Pre-Columbian land use and settlement pattern in Amazonia.

The project aims at improving our knowledge about the interaction between humans and their environments during the later periods of pre-Columbian history in Amazonia. Methodologically the project is scheduled to involve archaeological field research as well as soil science in the Santarém area, Brazil, as well as studies of the considerable archaeological collections from the same region held by the Museum of World Culture in Gothenburg. The project is developed in collaboration with leading Brazilian researchers.
